Back from holiday's and my god Teena has done it again. Le Guns reminded me the other day that on a very similar trip six years ago we sat around the pool and were forced to ask the walking music man 'what the f**k is this!' only to be introduced to RJD2, my world has never been quite the same since. Yet again a lazy sunny day in the Algarve was complimented by a playlist of music from Pretty Lights which I think is going to rock my library for quite a while! . . . Teena, loving your work son!

Pretty Lights is the musical creation of Derek Vincent Smith, accompanied by fellow Coloradoan Cory Eberhard during live performances. Smith's music is the byproduct of digital sampling and transforming it to create a new kind of music that crosses many genres, pulling bits and pieces from each one, the end product being a combination of "glitchy hip-hop beats, buzzing synth lines, and vintage funk and soul samples." [1] Influences of Derek's work include that of many famous members of the hip-hop community, such as The Notorious B.I.G., and even to the extent of sampling work from Etta James and John Coltrane.

Audio Bullys return with a new LP that puts them right back where they were after "Ego War" as far as I'm concerned... "Generation" wasn't a great follow up album so this more than makes up for it. It's Electronic predominantly but some tunes could be in a Krafty Kuts set no problem! There aren't really any tracks on there I hate but the standouts include: "Drums (On With The Story)", "Only Man", "Dynamite", "Smiling Faces" and "Goodbye" is a cool tune to finish. A very nice 3rd album, with excellent production... sounds banging in my car with the sub and well worthy of a post to make you stray from the Hip Hop path.
